Woodturning Club


Our Lathe Workshop/Club is housed in a separate building to the Sales Counter and is equipped with lathes for demonstrations.  It is open on Saturday mornings between 9.00 a.m. and 12 noon (Demo Days excluded) to all Members.

 

Visitors are very welcome to attend free of charge for the first month to help gain an insight into the world of Woodturning before taking up full membership if wished.

 

Saturday mornings are fairly relaxed and informal and our resident woodturner, Roy Boulton, and other members will normally demonstrate skills on the lathe as well as giving advice to all beginners.  Tony and Barry are also on hand in the Salesroom to give further guidance and recommendations as required. 

 

The Club has members of all ages* and capabilities, from the absolute novice to the seasoned turner and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.

 

There are usually seven Demo Days each year when professional woodturners will give a full day of demonstration from 9.30 a.m. until 3.30 p.m. as listed below.  We also have 3 Club Days when members display their work and also demonstrate other skills such as pyrography, carving, etc.

 

*For insurance purposes, members must be aged over 18 years of age

 

Membership

Membership of our Woodturning Club entitles you to free entry to our Saturday morning workshop and to our Demonstration Days (£7.50 admission per Demo to non-members on these dates as below).

Members qualify for 10% discount on most purchases of wood blanks, BST turning tools, sanding cloth/discs, pen kits and finishes by Rustins, Liberon and Chestnut and 25% discount on bandsaw blades.

Membership runs from January to December 31st each year and is currently £35.00 for single or £50.00 for joint membership with your partner.  New members can join at any time during the year and the cost will adjust accordingly.
